Elder Rick New ~ Matthew 21:28-31

In Jesus' parable, a father asks both of his sons to go work in his vineyard. One refuses, then changes his mind and goes. The other agrees, then never shows up. The question Jesus asks is simple: which one did what his father wanted?

Elder New looks at three common barriers that keep people from answering God's call to serve, and at what happens when we get past them. The reward isn't obligation fulfilled. It's a life with real satisfaction and meaning.

Attending: Both 11:00 AM worship services are open to everyone. Registration for the afternoon sessions has closed. Lunch is provided at no cost for registered participants and their families.

Youth Church returns October 10 and October 24 at approximately 11:30 AM in the Youth Room (left front of the sanctuary). Middle and high school students are invited to dig into the morning's sermon together in open discussion, and first-time visitors are welcome.

Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

Last year Naples SDA was honored to host the Breast Cancer Awareness Walk. This year the Bethesda SDA Company is hosting, and we're walking alongside them to support the Renewing Health Foundation.

How to participate:

Download the sponsor sheet and gather sponsors from friends, family, and coworkers.

Sponsors can make checks payable to Renewing Health Foundation or send payment via Zelle to Operations@renewinghealth.org.

Turn in your sponsor sheet by the morning of the walk, October 11.

Why on Sabbath? In Isaiah 58, God ties true Sabbath-keeping directly to sharing bread with the hungry, and Jesus said plainly that it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath (Matthew 12:12). Feeding our neighbors on Sabbath afternoon isn't a break from rest. It's the Sabbath doing what it was made for.

Far fewer have been told what they were actually built to do. That's the gap this seminar exists to close. Over two Sabbaths, our teaching walks through what Scripture says God has given every believer — and then hands you the tools to find out what He gave you, specifically. The morning messages tell you God gave you something. The afternoon sessions tell you what it is. If you want to help, we need hands at every stage — unloading the truck on Tuesday, packing bags Saturday afternoon, and handing them out at four. Why We Do This on Sabbath Visitors sometimes ask why a congregation that keeps the seventh-day Sabbath spends Saturday afternoon hauling boxes. The answer is that we don't consider it an interruption of the Sabbath. We consider it the Sabbath doing what it was made for. When Isaiah described the fast God actually wanted, he named sharing bread with the hungry and bringing the homeless poor into your house — and then tied that same passage directly to honoring the Sabbath day (Isaiah 58:6–14). And when Jesus was challenged for healing on the Sabbath, He answered plainly: "It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath days" (Matthew 12:12). Rest and mercy were never in competition. In Isaiah 58, God describes the kind of devotion He's looking for: sharing bread with the hungry and opening your home to the poor. In the same chapter, He calls the Sabbath a delight. Jesus said it plainly in Matthew 12:12: "It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath." Feeding our neighbors isn't a break from Sabbath rest. It's Sabbath doing what it was made for. Far fewer can tell you what theirs is. This two-Sabbath seminar exists to close that gap. Using the EQUIP curriculum, we'll move past the abstract idea of gifting and into actual inventory work — a spiritual gifts assessment on the first Sabbath, and a DISC profile on the second — with time built in to process what comes back. The sermons tell you God gave you something. The afternoons tell you what it is. Each week takes a single Kingdom value — the way God's people treat one another, welcome outsiders, serve, take risks, and build something that outlasts them — and asks what it would look like lived out in Naples. September 5 — "Faith That Risks" (Joshua 3:13–17): The Jordan was at flood stage, and God's instruction was to step in. The water didn't part until the priests' feet were already wet. This message looks at what God asks of a church that wants the guarantee before the obedience. Sermons are posted online one week after they're preached. This ministry has served the Naples community for six years. Every month, on the Saturday following the second Tuesday, we set aside the afternoon to feed our neighbors. It is open to every man — church membership is not required, and friends, family, and coworkers are always welcome. These two nights work together. The Mastermind Session on the 14th is the planning table. What this ministry becomes — the format, the focus, what these men build together going forward — gets decided in that room. If you've ever had an opinion about what a men's ministry ought to be, that's the night it counts. And if you've never attended a meeting, come anyway — no agenda required. A man who can say plainly what it would take to get him to come back is the most useful voice in the room. The Kick-Off Meeting on the 21st launches what the 14th shaped. If you've been thinking about coming, start here: everyone begins at the same place, so there's nothing to catch up on and no conversation you're walking into the middle of. Both are the kind of room where a man can stop performing and say what's actually going on. In this passage, Jesus draws a hard line between how the world understands authority and how His Kingdom does. Among the nations, rulers lord power over people. Among His followers, the greatest are the ones who serve. It is one of the most direct challenges Christ ever issued to His disciples — and to us. Missed a week? If you would like to help Volunteers gather at 2:00 PM to pack, immediately before distribution opens. No experience or prior sign-up is necessary — simply arrive and someone will put you to work. A second, smaller volunteer need comes earlier in the month: the Midwest Food Bank delivery truck arrives Tuesday, September 8 at 12:30 PM, and offloading takes approximately fifteen minutes. Because this distribution falls on Sabbath, the day begins with worship at 11:00 AM, followed by a bring-your-own sack lunch shared picnic-style in the Fellowship Room. Packing begins once lunch concludes. Serving on the Sabbath is not an interruption of our rest but an expression of its purpose. The September 14 mastermind is a working session to shape the direction, focus, and priorities of the ministry — men who want a voice in what this becomes should plan to be there. The first official meeting follows on September 21. Subscribe for updates: Men's Ministry Save the Date “What If...?” A Four-Part Seminar on How God Built You Saturdays, September 26 & October 3 Lunch 12:30–1:15 PM | Afternoon Sessions 1:30 PM (approximately 75–90 minutes) Registration requiredRegister Today What if I understood how God designed me — and were free to accept my gifts and use them to make a difference? What if I understood the way God made others to think and function differently than me? Would that change how I communicate with them? Would I appreciate them more? What if this church worked as a genuinely interdependent body? These are the questions this seminar exists to answer. Scripture is direct about this: every believer has been given something. Not the gifted few, not the naturally confident, not the people already on a platform — every one. Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, and 1 Peter 4 all say the same thing from different angles. What most of us have never had is help identifying what that something actually is. Afternoon Session — Saturday, September 26 Presented by Elder Rick New Completing the spiritual gifts identification process. This session helps each participant name the specific gifts God has entrusted to them and understand the purpose those gifts were given for. Afternoon Session — Saturday, October 3 Presented by Steve Krivda An exploration of the DISC profile and what it reveals about how you communicate, make decisions, and work alongside others. Understanding your own wiring — and recognizing that the people around you are wired differently — transforms how ministry teams function and dramatically reduces the friction that comes from misreading one another's intentions. What to Know Before You Register This is one seminar delivered over two Saturdays. Weekend two builds directly on weekend one, so participants should plan to attend both Sabbaths. Who can attend: Anyone who worships with us, high school age and older. Church membership is not required, and visitors are genuinely welcome. Lunch: Provided both Sabbaths by our Women's Ministry, 12:30–1:15 PM, immediately following the worship service. Childcare: Not available at this time. Saturday, August 15 — Pastor David Bracetti New Series: Kingdom Culture Message: "hospitality as mission” Romans 12:9-13 Week 3 of our current series, Kingdom Culture: Becoming the Church God Intended — ten weeks on what it looks like when a congregation takes real ownership of its mission and lives out the values of God's Kingdom in ordinary life. Paul writes hospitality as a command, not a mood. This Sabbath we look at what it costs, and what it opens. Missed a week? Food Distribution-August 15 Distribution: Saturday, August 15 · 4:00 PM Volunteer packing: Saturday, August 15 · 2:00 PM Truck offload: Tuesday, August 11 · 12:00 PM 5050 Davis Blvd, Naples, FL 34104 If you need food: Come at 4:00 p.m. Drive through our porte cochere and we'll place a box directly in your trunk. If you're walking or arriving by bike, you are just as welcome — you do not need a car to receive food. There is no registration. There is no paperwork. No documentation of any kind is required. First come, first served, until the boxes are gone. We'll also ask if you'd like prayer — and if you do, we'll pull to the side and pray with you right there. If you’d like to serve: After the worship service — Bring a picnic-style sack lunch and stay for fellowship in the Fellowship Room. Lunch is not provided, so pack your own. 2:00 p.m. — Packing begins. We fill Blessing Boxes with essentials for our neighbors. No experience needed and no minimum commitment. If you'd rather head home after service and return at 2:00, that works just as well. 4:00 p.m. — Distribution begins. Sign up to serve: Not required, but genuinely helpful — knowing how many hands to expect lets us plan the afternoon. ⚠️ Sign Up Here Food Distribution is held each month on the Saturday following the second Tuesday. Youth Church-August 15 & 29 Middle and high school students meet during the worship hour for Youth Church, led by Andrew Krivda. A leader announces the dismissal at the appropriate point in the service and students move to the youth room — the front left classroom off the sanctuary. Students are also invited to join the Food Distribution afterward. This two-part seminar is the practical next step. Saturday, August 1 — Pastor David New Series: Kingdom Culture Message: "Becoming the Church God Intended” 1 Corn 12:12-27 What separates a congregation that gathers from a congregation that changes its city? Over ten weeks, Pastor David examines the values that define life in God's Kingdom — belonging, encouragement, hospitality, servanthood, risk, legacy, compassion, and peace — and what changes when a church actually lives them. The series rests on one conviction: the mission of the church does not belong to its staff. It belongs to every member. It closes with The Church the City Cannot Ignore (Acts 2:42–47). Week 1 — August 1: "Everyone Matters" 1 Corinthians 12:12–27 Paul describes the church as a body, where every part is necessary and the parts that appear least significant are the ones God honors most. This opening message asks what it means to belong before it asks anything of you. All are welcome. No membership, background, or church experience required. Messages are available afterward on our website, YouTube, and podcast. Youth Church | August 1 (approx. 11:30am) | Youth Room Led this week by Tyler Krivda, all middle and high school students are dismissed from the 11:00 AM worship service following congregational prayer — a leader will direct them to the Youth Room. Parents, simply come to the main service; students will be guided from there. The format is conversation, not lecture. Students engage the same scripture being preached in the sanctuary and work through what it means for their own lives: school, friendships, family, and the decisions in front of them right now. Youth Church meets on alternating Sabbaths. August dates: 1st, 15th, and 29th. Summer Women’s Bible Study 1st & 3rd Thursdays | 6:00pm | 5050 Davis Blvd| Led by Sharon Foster An evening gathering for women of all ages centered on scripture, prayer, and community. No preparation required and no prior attendance needed — each session stands on its own. Bring a Bible if you have one; extras are available. August dates: August 6 and August 20 Community Food Distribution — August 11 & 15 Food Offloading: August 11 @ 12:00pm (15-20 mins) Packing & Handout: August 15 @ 2:00 PM & 4:00pm (following service) Our food distribution ministry provides groceries directly to families in the Naples community. It runs entirely on volunteers, and there is a role for every schedule and ability level. If you need food: Come to the church on Saturday, August 15 at 4:00 PM. Distribution is open to anyone who arrives — first come, first served, until supplies run out. No registration, documentation, or church membership required. You do not need to attend the service or contact us in advance. Just come. If you'd like to volunteer: Tuesday, August 11 — 12:00 PM: Delivery Offload The food delivery arrives at noon and volunteers are needed to unload it. Approximately 15–20 minutes. No experience necessary and no ongoing obligation. Sabbath, August 15 — 2:00 PM Packing, 4:00 PM Distribution Volunteers sort and pack grocery boxes at 2:00 PM, then distribute them at 4:00 PM. Families, youth, and first-time volunteers welcome. Advance sign-up helps us plan, but walk-in volunteers are never turned away. On serving during Sabbath hours: Scripture identifies acts of mercy as fitting for the Sabbath rather than in conflict with it. Isaiah 58 links genuine Sabbath observance directly to feeding the hungry, and Jesus taught plainly that it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath (Matthew 12:12). Food Distribution to Our Community
During the 2020 pandemic the need of food in our community was extensive. We are blessed that God provided us a way to support those in need and over the last several years we have continued to see hundreds of families each month be blessed by the boxes we can hand out. We hope you'll join us in serving our community. Each 2nd Tuesday of the month, up to 5 pallets of food will be received from Midwest Food Bank and brought to the church. The Saturday following the receipt of food from Midwest, at the conclusion of our worship service, we will gather together, after a brown bag lunch, to pack the boxes and prepare them for handing out. Then we will plan to hand out these boxes that same afternoon. We invite you to join us on these Saturdays with your family, bring a lunch for you and your family, and help us pack and distribute the food each month. "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me" (Matt. 25:35) We understand that many of you may not be available to pack and distribute the food, and yet you still want to help and support our food bank ministry. If that is the case, we might suggest that the opportunity to support our ministry financially, allowing us to purchase the supplies to prepare the food boxes, and even purchase fresh food to give out as well, that may not be available each time from Midwest. Our Journey So Far! A 2025 highlight
Launched with excitement in August 2025, our Women's Ministry hit the ground running with five joyful events and a 7-week Bible Study in our inaugural season. The response has been incredible-women showing up consistently, hearts open, ready to connect and grow. Memorable gatherings: A welcoming Kickoff Brunch to launch the ministry with fellowship and inspiration A fun Pint & Game Night for laughter and relaxed connection Our impactful Breast Cancer Awareness Walk in October, where we walked together in solidarity and raised approximately $3000 for breast cancer awareness and research A heartfelt Candlelight Thanksgiving Potluck to give thanks and share gratitude The inspiring Christmas Cafe for a Cause in December, along with your help and support, raised funds to bless 15 families with a financial blessing during the Christmas season. These events weren't just activities-they were opportunities to build real community, offer encouragement, grow spiritually, and extend Christ's love outward through generous outreach.Discover More Here Why Join us?
